When to Apply Corrosion Protection During the Repair Process?
Anti-corrosion protection should be provided at all stages of production and exploitation of metal products – from the design of an object and metal smelting to transportation, storage of finished products, installation of metal structures and their exploitation. Corrosion losses are about 12% of the annual metal smelting. Corrosion of metals leads not only to their irretrievable losses, but also to premature failure of expensive and critical products and structures, disruption of technological processes and equipment downtime. In some cases, corrosion causes accidents.
What is a pipe in PU insulation?
This is a monolithic structure consisting of several layers. The main layer is polyurethane foam insulation. The use of PPU pipes allows to minimize heat losses, as well as reliably protect the heating main and other pipeline systems from external factors.
The most effective method of corrosion protection of pipelines is?
One of the modern and most effective methods of protection is highly reinforced insulation, which is carried out with extruded polyethylene in the factory workshops. Coating on insulation pipes is applied in 2 or 3 layers, with a total thickness of 2 – 3.5 mm. For strong adhesion of the pipe surface with the applied coating, a special primer is preliminarily applied for.
Which surfaces can be cleaned with a sandblaster?
With the help of sandblasting, it is possible to clean surfaces from corrosion, bitumen, fuel oil, various layers of soot, scale, plaster, various types of contaminants, including layers of paint and varnish. Through to sandblasting can be clean not only concrete, metal and stone, but even such delicate surfaces as glass.
How to remove corrosion foci from a metal surface?
The use of Shot Blasting treatment makes possible to effectively remove scale from the surface of the material, perform a global cleaning of rust plaques, achieve the necessary roughness of the treated surface (for subsequent finishing operations), and, if necessary, make the surface matte. Also, shot-blasting workflows make it possible to completely remove corrosion pockets from the metal surface. By using of these works, an established relief contour of the product is formed and particles that do not have connectivity are removed.
